"SINONIM SUDIRMAN" Talent Search by KOPSTAR and Summit USJ. | The Malaysian music scene has long been enriched by the patriotic songs of the late Sudirman, whose music continues to resonate deeply with listeners even today. Iconic songs like "31 Ogos," "Pelangi Petang," and "Merisik Khabar" remain beloved, embodying the spirit and culture of the nation.
In an effort to honor and preserve Sudirman's invaluable legacy, KOPSTAR, in collaboration with the Summit USJ shopping mall and supported by SUDIRMAN ASSET MANAGEMENT, has launched the "SINONIM SUDIRMAN" program. This initiative aims not only to pay tribute to Sudirman but also to discover new talents in Malaysia's music industry. The program is set to take place over three days, from August 30 to September 1, 2024.
A Celebration Full of Activities
In addition to the "SINONIM SUDIRMAN" competition, a variety of other activities will be held to attract visitors. These include a Baby Catwalk Contest, GAYOR Caricature Coloring Contest, PWIP Cake Decorating Contest, Patriotic Singing Competition, Poetry Recitation, a Guitar Clinic by M.Noor Hendrix, and a Vocal Clinic by Cikgu Siti Hajar Ismail.
All these events are organized in conjunction with Malaysia's 67th Independence Day celebrations. Visitors will also have the chance to win exciting prizes and participate in lucky draws throughout the program.

Visitors will also be entertained by performances from well-known artists and rising stars, including Royce Sa’ayan, Zack Kazamata, Farra Ahmad, Nami Harez, Zack Kool, Wafi The Voltage, and Kumpulan Aktivis.
Esteemed Judges
To select the winner of the "SINONIM SUDIRMAN" competition, KOPSTAR has invited a special panel of judges, featuring Datuk Hajjah Habsah Hassan, Cikgu Siti Hajar Ismail, and composer Salman Shariff.
Additionally, the Malaysian Music Industry Cooperative Society (KOPERASI INDUSTRI MUZIK MALAYSIA BERHAD) encourages local artists and celebrities to participate in business kiosks provided by Summit USJ by registering through the QR code. KOPSTAR also invites members of the creative industry to join the cooperative.
Why Sudirman?
Royce Sa’ayan, also known as Rohayati Saayan, the Chairperson of KOPSTAR, explained that the main mission of this program is to honor Sudirman's contributions to Malaysian music and culture. The program also aims to inspire young talents to showcase their abilities on a prestigious platform.
This competition is not about finding a replacement for Sudirman, as he remains an irreplaceable figure in the music world. His vocal prowess and stage presence are unmatched.
Royce Sa’ayan added, "We are thrilled to introduce 'SINONIM SUDIRMAN' as a tribute to a musical legend who has left an indelible mark across generations. Through this competition, we hope not only to honor Sudirman's incredible legacy but also to encourage talented individuals to pursue their dreams in singing."
The organization of this program by KOPSTAR was made possible with the approval of SUDIRMAN ASSET MANAGEMENT, which then partnered with Summit USJ to bring this vision to life.
An Open Invitation
The competition is open to participants from all backgrounds, providing them with the opportunity to showcase their vocal abilities and stage charisma. Contestants will compete for the Challenge Trophy, Accompanying Trophy, Cash Prizes, Souvenirs, and Participation Certificates.
