The Secretary General of the Federation of Film Producers in Asia Pacific (FPA) and President of the Malaysian Film Producers Association, Pansha, who is also one of the originators of this idea, expressed his excitement when he received a positive response from the state government.

"The Asia-Pacific Film Festival covers 22 countries in the Asia-Pacific from South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.
"APFF is one of the best festivals that can promote Asia Pacific films to the global level and this is also the best platform for Sarawak to be better known and we can bring it more widely. Miri was chosen because, after Kuching, our role is also to promote Sarawak's second city," he said.

Some of the objectives include talent development and protecting the standards of Sarawak's film & TV industry through government policy.
One of the main objectives of the Sarawak film collective is to attract local and foreign investors. Accordingly, the Ministry is pleased to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement between the Sarawak film collective and the Malindo Film Fund (MFF), the investment arm of the fund that will be opened for filmmakers in Malaysia and Indonesia.
This MOU proves that the Sarawak film collective will work with the Malindo Film Fund to identify who is eligible to access this fund in Sarawak and Borneo.
