Raja Muda Selangor Agrees to Give Business Grants to Selected Disabled People in the Malaysian Disabled Entrepreneur League Program (SAY LEAD PRO). | Who says disabled people can't be an entrepreneur right? You can be anything if you have the passion to do it.
Hence, yesterday 30 disabled people (OKU) entrepreneurs have been selected by His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Raja Muda Selangor to receive business grants in the Malaysian Disabled Entrepreneur League (SAY LEAD PRO) program organized by Selangor Youth Community supported by Yayasan Hasanah.
The league is organized by Selangor Youth Community (SAY), a non-governmental organization founded by D.Y.T.M. Viceroy of Selangor. The Malaysian Disabled Entrepreneurs League - SAY LEAD PRO program is conducted under the Entrepreneurship Selangor initiative by bringing His Majesty's vision and mission to promote inclusion in diversity, especially to youth entrepreneurs. This league is fully sponsored by the Hasanah Foundation through the "Hasanah Special Grant".
The selection criteria for participants are:
- Holders of valid Disabled Persons (OKU) cards under the Department of Social Welfare (JKM)
- Aged from 18 years to 45 years.
- Able to attend class physically and online
- Interested in learning business activities.
The SAY LEAD program has been running for 18 months since January 2022. 60 participants are selected to undergo an 18-month business course that includes four phases:
First phase: Unearth The Talent (4 Months)
Second Phase: Commercialization (4 Months)
Third Phase: Sustainability (4 Months)
Final Phase: Giving Back to Societies (4 Months)
Each week during the business coaching course, participants are given tasks to implement in their business either physically or online. In the first phase, participants need to attend the class physically to learn how to produce products/services and then get suppliers and maintain product quality.
Entering the second phase of Commercialisation, out of 60 participants only 30 participants will be selected to enter the second phase. In this phase, participants will be given knowledge on how to commercialize the products produced either physically or online. In this second phase, Selangor Youth Community (SAY) has taken the initiative to implement a bootcamp for three days and two nights at the International Youth Center (IYC), Cheras. As a result of the bootcamp, each participant is guided and assigned a mentor based on the products produced into three groups, namely F&B, Sewing and online business.
As a result of the guidance, each participant successfully owns their own product based on guidance from the mentor. In the meantime, this phase is also closely monitored by the Selangor Youth Community (SAY) and mentors by holding three meetings in September to record sales, marketing methods and more.
