IS THE TOUCH N GO CARD UPGRADED WITH NFC?
The upgraded Touch ‘n Go card comes with NFC technology to enable top-up via the Touch‘ n Go eWallet, allowing you to top up easily wherever you are, anytime you want.
It can be used as a cashless payment on all toll highways in Peninsular Malaysia, major public transport services in the Klang Valley and outside the Klang Valley except Rapid Kuantan and selected parking areas.
You just need to make sure your upgraded TNG card has sufficient balance and scan the card in the TNG card reader.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NFC TECHNOLOGY TOUCH ‘N GO CARDS AND OLD TOUCH N’ GO CARDS
The upgraded TNG card is equipped with the latest technology, "Near Field Communication (NFC)", to enable and facilitate value addition through Touch n 'Go eWallet.
Older versions of Touch ‘n Go cards do not have this feature.
Therefore, only upgraded TNG Cards sold through the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app and selected TNG third party agents can be used to top up via Touch n’ Go eWallet (app version 1.7.72 and above).
To distinguish between the old and new version cards, please refer to the NFC symbol on the card :

Upgraded TNG cards and old TNG cards can be topped up through existing physical methods.
WHAT IS NFC?
"Near Field Communication" or NFC is a method of transmitting data "wirelessly" using radio waves. The upgraded Touch ‘n Go (TNG) card uses NFC to send top -up data“ wirelessly ”from a payment terminal that is an NFC reader on your mobile phone that has been activated for use.
To enjoy the full benefits of a card equipped with “Near Field Communication” (NFC), please make sure you meet the following prerequisites:
1.The user’s Touch ’n Go eWallet account needs to be verified via eKYC
2. Users need to have an NFC -compatible mobile phone and need a minimum of iOS 13 (Apple) and Android 4.4 (Android & other models) Operating Software (OS). Users need to make sure their mobile phone meets the minimum OS and it has been updated in their mobile phone to ensure the top-up feature via Touch n ’Go eWallet works.
Some phone models purchased from other countries can cause problems with the NFC function. Please check with the company that sells your mobile phone model before trying the card top -up feature using eWallet
3. Users need to update their Touch ‘n Go eWallet app to version 1.7.72 and above to enjoy all the extra features to use the upgraded TNG card.
Some mobile phones may need to activate the NFC function before it can be used in your Touch ‘n Go eWallet. Please check with the company that supplies your mobile phone model to find out more about the compatibility of your mobile phone with NFC before purchasing an upgraded TNG card.

An upgraded TNG card with “Near Field Communication” (NFC) capability costs RM10.00 for a generic design.
Please note that for cards purchased through Touch ’n Go eWallet (app version 1.7.72 and above), additional courier charges will be borne by the buyer.
HOW TO PURCHASE
I) Offline Purchase (In Physical Store)
You can purchase this upgraded TNG card via Touch ‘n Go eWallet (app version 1.7.72 and above) and at select petrol stations.
Before purchasing an upgraded TNG card, please make sure your mobile phone has “Near Field Communication” (NFC) feature if your card would like to have the ability to top up the card via Touch ‘n Go eWallet.
II) Online Purchase (Via Touch n Go e-Wallet)
You can purchase an upgraded TNG card via Touch ’n Go eWallet (app version 1.7.72 and above). Upon completion of the purchase process through the app, your order will be shipped to the address listed at the time of purchase. You can only change your address before completing an in-app purchase.
Step 1: Click on the TNG Card icon on the main page of the application
Step 2: Click Order Touch ‘n Go Card/ Check the status at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to the card purchase screen
Step 3: Click Order Now
Step 4: Select the order quantity and click Buy now
Step 5: Enter the shipping information and complete the payment for the order (Note: Shipping cost is excluded from the card sale price of RM10. Shipping cost is as shown in the application. Product delivery is limited to Peninsular Malaysia only)
HOW TO LINK A NEW TOUCH N GO CARD WITH TNG E-WALLET
To enjoy the full benefits of a card equipped with “Near Field Communication” (NFC), please make sure you meet the following prerequisites:
1. The user’s Touch ’n Go eWallet account needs to be eKYC verified
2. Users need to have an NFC -compatible mobile phone and need a minimum of iOS 13 (Apple) and Android 4.4 (Android & other models) Operating Software. Users need to make sure their mobile phone meets the minimum OS and it has been updated in their mobile phone to ensure the top -up feature via Touch n ’Go eWallet works. Some phone models purchased from other countries can cause problems with the NFC function. 3. Users need to update their Touch ‘n Go eWallet app to version 1.7.72 and above to enjoy all the extra features to use the upgraded TNG card.
Once you have made sure you meet all the above prerequisites, you can link your upgraded TNG card by following the steps below:
Step 1: Click on the TNG Card icon on the main screen
Step 2: Click on the Add Card button or the ‘+’ symbol in the upper right corner
Step 2a: Verify your Touch n ’Go eWallet account if you have not yet completed eKYC
If your mobile phone has NFC function:
Step 3: Click on Scan Now or icon
Step 4: Scan your upgraded TNG card on the back of your phone and make sure the surface is in close contact. For iPhone, scan the card on the top of the phone's back cover next to the camera, while for Android, scan in the center of the phone's back cover. This process may require some experimentation depending on your cell phone
Step 5: Upon success, your 10-digit Serial Number will be filled in automatically. Confirm the 10-digit Serial Number entered in the application is as printed on your card
Step 6: Fill in the Preferred Card Name field. If you leave the field blank, the name that will be assigned to your linked card will be based on the system
Step 7: Press the Add button
Step 8: Enter your 6-digit Touch ‘n Go eWallet PIN and you are now ready to use the upgraded TNG card
Note: You can link up to 5 TNG Cards in your Touch ‘n Go eWallet
HOW TO ADD VALUE TO A NEW TNG CARD ONLINE WITH NFC
Each upgraded TNG card has no currency value at the time of purchase. You can choose to top up your TNG card via Touch n ’Go eWallet (application version 1.7.72 and above) or at any authorized operator appointed by TNGSB throughout Peninsular Malaysia. Steps to add value using:
i) Touch n ’Go eWallet: Please follow the instructions on your Touch n’ Go eWallet to top up your card easily.
Step 1: Click on the TNG Card icon on the main page of Touch n ’Go eWallet
Step 2: Select the card that has the “Near Field Communication” (NFC) feature that you want to top up. The NFC icon on the card image will be blue if the selected card has NFC features. Click the Reload button
Step 3: Scan your upgraded TNG card on the back of your phone and make sure the surface is in close contact. For iPhone, scan the card on the top of the phone's back cover next to the camera, while for Android, scan in the center of the phone's back cover. This process may require some experimentation depending on your cell phone. For the best user experience, please check with the manufacturer of your mobile phone model to find out the placement of the NFC reader on your device
Step 4: Enter your preferred amount. Specify the amount you want to add to your card. The maximum limit for each top -up transaction through eWallet is RM500
Step 5: Authorize payment by entering your Touch n ’Go eWallet 6-digit PIN
Step 6: You will be prompted to scan your card on the back of the mobile phone again
Step 7: If your top-up operation is successful, you will see the Reload Successful screen. If your top-up operation fails, you will see the Reload Unsuccessful screen. If your top-up operation is still "in progress", you will see the Hold On screen, reload is Pending!
Step 8: To confirm the card balance after the draw reload operation, please proceed to check the card balance by tapping the NFC icon on the card image and follow the instructions on your screen
Note: Make sure your mobile phone has the NFC feature and it is enabled in your Settings. For iOS users, NFC is enabled automatically.
ii) Top-up through SSK/Terminals/ATM Machines or an authorized operator appoint TNGSB as top up for existing TNG card
Please make sure you have sufficient balance in your TNG card before using it to enjoy a smooth experience, especially during this festive, do avoid to add more traffic at the tol gais!
