Salam Maulidur Rasul 1443H. | Salam alaik. Praise to Allah and to the prophet Nabi Muhammad SAW. Today, around the world are celebrating the Mawlid al-Nabi, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. It is celebrated on the twelfth day of the month Rabi’ al-Awwal. Celebrations include festivals, prayer services, recitations of poetry and litanies, as well as religious gatherings.
Celebrations of the Mawlid in Malaysia will be slightly different this year. I remember during primary school I join nasyid competition at school and it was one of the common way schools will celebrate Maulidur Rasul. But I guess my kids haven't had a chance yet to celebrate the event and maybe they also did not know well yet about many stories and the Jihad of Nabi Muhammad SAW.
Hence, the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW is not only a good time to remember him and tell our children about his story. It is also an opportunity to find out more about the details of his life.
We need to do this to strengthen our love for him, to be more grateful to Allah for sending him to us, and to imitate him more in our daily lives.
Allah Ta'ala says,
لَقَدْ اءَكُمْ لٌ لَيْهِ ا لَيْكُمْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
"Indeed, there has come to you an Apostle from your own people, your suffering is heavy with him, eager for (goodness) for you, very merciful and merciful to the believers." (At-Taubah: 128)
Here are 10 brief information about Prophet Muhammad from Kitab al-Shama'il al-muhammadiyya that you might may not know:
1. Prophet Muhammad's favorite color was green.
2. The Prophet's favorite food was honey
3. His favorite drink is sweet and cold drinks
4. His sweat is perfume. This is not an exaggeration or a compliment.

6. His voice was loud enough that during his last sermon, his voice was able to reach 124,000 worshippers without a loudspeaker.
7. He never interrupts anyone while they are talking.
8 He was the most handsome of all the prophets.
9. He sleeps on his right side, with his right hand tucked under his cheek.
10. He uses the miswak every night to clean his teeth.
So today, let's celebrate this day with more Salawat to the prophet Nabi Muhammad SAW. Salawat is also one of the practices encouraged during the Maulidur Rasul celebration. According to the view of Sheikhul Islam Sayid Dahlan stated that salawat and standing for raising the Prophet is a good and noble practice.
Similarly, the practice of berzanji which is known to contain the highest praise to the Prophet Muhammad SAW and followed by salawat to him cannot be denied to contain many benefits in it. His Majesty's words which means:
"Whoever prays over me once Allah S.W.T prays over him 10 times"
(Reported by Muslim and Abu Daud)
This is one of the practices that can be done when celebrating Maulidur Rasul. So how many Salawat have you done today?
