Sub-Zero Challenge at the Snow World,Resorts World Genting. | Do you wanna build the Snowman? Everyone imagination about snow is happy and fun right? But it can be super scary if you had to be in there with minimal clothes for hours. Recently, I was invited to Resorts World Genting’s Snow World for the Sub-Zero Challenge to test our mettle and brave the cold in the challenge.
It was a race to be the last (cold) man standing in Resort World Genting’s recent Sub-Zero Challenge. Eventhough i super freak at cold weather but I love challenge! Braving frigid temperatures with only a minimal amount of clothing, 12 bloggers and influencers accepted the Sub-Zero Challenge to win some amazing prizes.
yes it super cold! |
“Life is all about challenge and I hope our media friends enjoyed this unique challenge here today,” said Katherine Chew, Vice President of Resorts Communication and Public Relations. “Genting Highlands is known for its amazingly cool mountain weather and Snow World is beloved for its recreation of a European winter; we have taken this to a new extreme today by turning it into a polar region for the Sub-Zero Challenge.
This is just one of the many interesting ways that we can ‘twist’ our attractions in Resorts World Genting into a whole new world of fun and challenge. So look forward to more of this!”
Hip hip hooray! |
Snow World was first opened in 2003 but closed down in 2011 to undergo a major revamp that cost RM15 million. It opened again on 31st August 2013 with an expansion to fit 250 visitors in the snow chamber per slot, making it the largest snow attraction it Malaysia.
The revamped Snow World is a European Winter Wonderland that spans an area of 22,800 square feet. And at a chilly -6°, you can experience the thrill of sliding down on a toboggan or engaging in a fun snowball fight. There is also so much more than just snow, with the 3D trick art and photo opportunities spread around in the chamber.
Nasi Beriyani Kambing |
After a delicious meal of Nasi Beriyani Mutton Curry at the Medan Selera, we went to the Snow World. BTW the Beriyani was really good and I do hope the mutton can heat me up during the challenge. LOL! So the rules were simple – stay in Snow World for as long as possible with only a single layer of clothing under the standard jacket, boots and gloves provided.
trophy for the winner |
So guess what? The jacket and glove is so warm but the boots was a nightmare. It was not even made for winter, is a rain boots. But still everyone was very inspired after looking at the trophy and certificate on the table. The prize was pretty impressive and it does inspire me a lot.

We went into the Snow World with excitement and courage (LOL), yes cos I hate cold and the first 30 minutes already challenging. But then the Snow World is beautiful with a lot of place for picture opportunity and that's distract us for a while. But then the real challenge came when we were told to be at one spot only. I was dancing, running and I don't know where my energy came that time and I manage to be there for 3 hour with jacket on.

At the third hour, a tie breaker was implemented where participants have to take off their jackets. All that was left was the one layer of clothes they came with. At this point, it was all about mental will and physical endurance. And guess what my clothe that day was so thin but still I managed the to bear it for a while. But then, they ask us to took off our gloves, and that was a biggest nightmare for me. My whole body start shaking and I surrender. I can barely feel my feet anymore and my face we super cold.
jacket off pose! |
But still there are 5 more bloggers in the Snow World accepting the challenge and it comes to an end when everybody agree to let Ariel wins and the others make a draw. The Grand Prize winner Ariel took home the Gold Media Trophy and 3 day/2 night stay at Genting Grand Hotel and passes to The Void and Skytropolis for 2 pax.
