Murtabak Mengkasar Original. |  Mutabbak or matabbak, also mutabbaq (Arabic: مطبق‎), is a stuffed pancake or pan-fried bread which is commonly found in Saudi Arabia (especially the Tihamah and the Hejaz regions), Yemen, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and Thailand. Depending on the location, the name and ingredients can significantly vary. The name mutabbaq (or sometimes mutabbag) in Arabic means "folded". In Malaysia, Murtabak is one of the favorite food during fasting month. During fasting month, we can found many place or bazaar selling Murtabak in so many version and specialty. Murtabak Mengkasar also has their own specialty that can't be found in normal murtabak. 

Murtabak Mengkasar originated from Kampung Mengkasar, Pekan, Pahang. The founder received the secret recipe from their neighbour who wanted to pass on the recipe to their family when looking their family love to do food business. Their specialty is from the layer of Murtabak and the spices that they use. They mix their own spice until now to remain the original spice in it.

Murtabak Mengkasar has 2 outlet currently, one in Kg. Mengkasar, Pekan and one in Bukit Sekilau,Kuantan. The otlet in Kuantan is just a simple restaurant, where they rent from the Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan. Although, the place looks decent, they have a good crowd especially during the fasting month. Murtabak Mengkasar actually well known in Pahang but too bad I just manage to eat it recently.

Murtabak Mengkasar have a very simple menu, where they focus on their Murtabak itself and others simple 'Roti Canai" menu. 

The menu includes : 

1. Murtabak Daging Biasa( Original Meat )

2. Murtabak Ayam Biasa (Chicken Original)

3. Meat/Chicken Special

- the mix special is combination of meat and chicken in one murtabak. Special also refer to the egg coated outside the murtabak,

Overall, I really this murtabak because of the taste and originality. My kids also eat with so much passion, and even when I write this blogpost Malique keep on asking for the Murtabak. I guess I need to when there tomorrow.

Apart of it, Murtabak Mengkasar has go extra miles with making a frozen food. Their frozen Murtabak has reach to UAE last year and they keep expanding. As for Malaysian market, they still searching for Agent to distributed their Frozen Murtabak and so far they already have a vendor from Food Market in Kuala Lumpur.

Meat Special

Last but not least, thank you for having my whole family in your restaurant. We really enjoy the food so much and I hope many people will go and try out their delicious murtabak. Definitely like no other!
