Developing Children by Pretending and Dramatic Play. | Hi mommies! Did your child love to pretend and play? What is their usual dramatic or pretending play?

As for my kids they love to be superheroes, sometimes being a mother, teacher and etc. Pretending and dramatic play is actually good for their development as the kid actually think out of the box such as what to do and what not to do when they are in that characters.

From my observation, there are 3 main benefits pretending and dramatic play that your child can gain:

1. Creativity 

Creativity is actually the most important thing when your kids are carrying roles during the pretend play and dramatic play. With their creativity, they will develop a new imaginative world complete with tools or platform to play.  So by this play, their motor skills will be enhanced and this will help them to brighten in their future. For example ; being a chef, Zahra pretends to prepare ingredient, cook and serve the food to the customer who is his brother, Fateh. In this play Zahra can develop her motor skills where she actually learn how to cut veggies, and even the skills of holding a pan.

2. Social Skill

Kids nowadays who love to play gadget who tend to be anti social and lack in their social skill. Social skill is important as it helps you  make friends and be with the community. So when you pretend and play, you will engage with other people and help you to socialize with others. Thus this play will help to increase your social skills and communication skills. 

3. Language Skill

My daughter loves to watch YouTube and even though I rarely speak English with her, she can understand  and speak just fine. But the best part when she plays pretend, she always speak English with her brother. She definitely have a high confident to speak in English even though she didn't have a proper English education yet. This play actually helps children to learn new language and terms they rarely hear and this add up to their development.

In this article I will share with you the simple pretending play that parents can help or monitor their child to do it.

1. Doctor and Patient

To be a doctor, kids need a stethoscope so just bought them a basic need. They definitely will go naturally when they have the equipment. 

2. Chef and Waiter

This pretending play is my kids’ favorite too, as me and my husband also doing food business they watch and learn it. Zahra loves taking order while Fateh pretends to cook it with the real kitchen utensil. So do monitor them closely and avoid any sharp objects.

3. Teacher and Student

Being a teacher is a good pretending play as the kids are actually using their brain to do the teaching. Zahra always be the angry teacher and Fateh always be the naughty boy who always playing in the class. This play always end up Fateh cried cos Zahra beat him. Haha

4. Superheroes and Villain

This play is my boy’s favorite but my daughter loves it too. Sometimes they are PJ Mask, sometimes Wonder Woman and Flash, sometimes Spiderman and Super Girl. This play helps your kids to exercise more and helps them to move around.

5. Firefighter and Victim

Being a firefighter helps kids to be the noble person cause firefighter helps people. The kids will also learn to remember the firefighter number and this also helps them to learn what to do when there is a fire in their place.  It is a good learning process with this job so do monitor them let them know about what they are pretending.
