Malaysian Theater Festival 2016 will be Happening in Kedah!

Calling all the theater lovers! This will be the annual gathering and event you shouldn't be missed! Malaysia Theater Festival 2016 will be happening in Kedah. The event will be happening from 20th to 26 November 2016 at Auditorium Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Keseniaan Negeri Kedah.

The festival were choosing to be held in Kedah after the sate of Kedah have won the Grand Prize on last year festival. This annually Theater Festival held to enliven the theater homeland in Malaysia and provide an opportunity for theater groups and associations to showcase their talent and skills in theater. Its also aims to gains more interest from others society in Malaysia to get to know this beautiful scene.

This year Malaysian Theatre Festival undertaken by the Department of Culture and Arts and Theatre Association of Malaysia. At the press conference held at Saloma Bistro recently, media and bloggers have been informed of the names of the six groups selected will compete in the Festival Theater Malaysia 2016 this time and the activities that will be held during the festival this later in Kedah.

The festival will be :

Date : 20-26 November 2016.

Day : Sunday - Saturday

Time : 0900 until 2030

Place : Auditorium Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Keseniaan Negeri Kedah.

During the festivals week, there is also other exciting activities for everyone who attending it such as science conference, exhibition by the group, sales, arts and many others. The theater competition will be held mostly during the night to give space people to enjoy it even during the working days. 

A total of 104 theater groups in all 14 states will be competed and only one group for each state will win the State Theatre Festival 2015. And from the 14 groups, only 6 groups will be selected by a panel of assessors to qualify for the Malaysia Festival 2016.

Among the six candidates who will compete in the Malaysian Theatre Festival 2016 is:

Group : Gabungan Seni Warisan Anak Pinang Pulau Pinang.

Tajuk : The Maids

Tarikh : 21 Novwmber 2016 (Isnin)

Masa : 8.30 Malam

Group : Persatuan Seni Ceritera Negeri Selangor.

Tajuk : Jalan Mati

Tarikh : 22 November 2016

Masa : 8.30 Malam

Group : Stage Production, Universiti Malaysia.

Tajuk : Prebet Kabimbangan

Tarikh : 23 November 2016

Masa : 8.30 Malam

Group : Kelab Penggiat Seni Teater Negeri Sembilan

Tajuk : Tergantung

Tarikh : 24 November 2016

Masa : 3 Petang

Group : Persatuan Seni Persembahan Sifar Kuching Sarawak.

Tajuk : Si Panji Rumput

Tarikh : 25 November 2016

Masa : 8.30 Malam

In addition to their performances each group will prepare an exhibition of their group. The exhibition will take place at the entrance to the auditorium JKKN Kedah. To see the exhibition, people can it come early before the show took place.

The prize giving ceremony of a Malaysian Theatre Festival 2016 will be held on 26 November 2016 at 8.30 pm, at the Auditorium of the Department of Culture and Arts Kedah.

The Oscar Award prize concept and will involve theater artists who will act as a presenter. The Council also graced with performances distraction from the Group Semelai, Bera, Pahang.

Everyone that will be participate on the festivals

The main prize will bring back cash of RM10,000.00, trophy, a trophy and certificate. The runner-up will take home a cash prize of RM8,000.00 trophy and certificate and the third place will bring home a cash prize of RM6,000.00 along with a trophy and certificate.

With this initiative of the Association of Malaysian theater, theater festivities will hopefully continue to be maintained and fueled and increase the interest and love of the theater. The arts are also hopefully to be able to strengthen the character of Malaysians through messages and elements and cultural values they ​​conveyed on the performances.
