Hello foodie...
If you're a Klang Valley resident but craving for some authentic Johor food without the 300 odd kilometer and over three hour head start for lunch or dinner, then make your way to Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Celebrating the Citrawarna Malaysia 2016, the Hotel together with Tourism Johor is organizing an elaborate Johor Food and Cultural Festival.
Commencing 18 May 2016 until 27 May 2016, Zende Restaurant brings cusines from this Southern state of Malaysia closer to all. A special beverage featured only during this 10-day long festival is the Beyh Royale. Aptly named as it was the welcome drink for guests to the Istana Besar Johor during the reign of HRH Sultan Abu Bakar Temenggung Daeng Ibrahim from 1833 to 185. The drink is brewed from rich aromatic spices such as cinamon and cardamom, cloves, star anises, kaffir lime and pandan leaves.
Nasi Kuzi Ayam |
Patrons to the Zende Restaurant where the Festival is held can sink their teeth into dishes such as Nasi Kambing Beyh Royale, Nasi Beryani Ayam, Nasi Ambeng, Ikan Cencaru Masak Kerutup, Sotong Maak Hitam, Tetel Lembu Masak Gulai Daun Kesum and Botok-botok.
Of course no Johor Food is complete without the favorite crowd pleaser Laksa Johor. Many did know that Laksa Johor has a different taste and look with the common laksa Penang. What so unique about Laksa Johor is the noodle where it used the spaghetti noodles and the gravy are more thicker and uses more herbs compare to the Asam Laksa. So if you wanna try out this Laksa Johor do come to this event cos they do served a very authentic good taste of Laksa Johor.

While enjoying dessert treats of traditional fares such as Bubur Som-som, Kuih Kole Kacang, Tembosa Daging, Pulut Kepal, Kuih Kacau Keledek, Kuih Lopes; be entertained by the culturally rich state with their cultural dance performance. These dances will be performed daily during lunch and dinner time. Meanwhile, as eye candy the hotel lobby will be transformed into a mini Johor with displays of arts and crafts. Those interested may purchased them direct from these craft makers.
Some of the food that will served on that day are :
Bahulu Lapis Johor and Tembosa Daging |
This Tembosa Daging also something new for me cos it actually my first time having it. It like a Currypuff with a meat filling but the taste is different with a common meat currypuff in the market.
Bubur Harissa |
Acar Rampai |
Tetel Lembu Masak Gulai Dausn Kesum |
Sotong Masak Hitam |
Sayur Rampai Masak Lemak + Keledek |
