The Makan Shoppe: Bringing Street Food to a Restaurant. | If you love Malaysian street food but prefer a more comfortable and modern dining experience, you are in for a treat! The Makan Shoppe, a kopitiam-style restaurant that brings the concept of From Street to Restaurant, has officially opened its first outlet at 168 Selayang Mall.

I had the chance to attend the grand opening of The Makan Shoppe, and let me tell you this place is not just another restaurant. It’s a fusion of authentic street flavors with a stylish, cozy atmosphere, making every dish feel extra special.

Street Food, Elevated

What makes The Makan Shoppe stand out? It retains the original taste of Malaysian street food but presents it in a more modern and comfortable setting.

Here are some of the must-try dishes:

Nasi Lemak Bungkus Pattaya : A unique twist on the classic nasi lemak, featuring fragrant Basmathi rice, rich coconut flavors, and spicy sambal, all wrapped in a fluffy omelet for an extra layer of indulgence.

Street-style burgers : Not your typical burger! Made with high-quality meat containing a higher percentage of real beef, every bite is juicy and bursting with flavor, enhanced by their signature Umami sauce, a secret recipe exclusive to The Makan Shoppe.

Bandung Dynamite : A refreshing and creamy drink with the perfect balance of sweetness and indulgence, making it a crowd favorite!

Every dish is crafted with premium ingredients, blending traditional flavors with a modern presentation while keeping the essence of street food alive.

A Growing Brand with Big Plans

During the event, Dato’ Haji Haris Embong, Executive Chairman of Arisprop Capital Bhd. and Managing Director of The Makan Shoppe, shared that this first outlet is just the beginning.

The brand has already received invitations to expand to major locations, including AEON (AU2 Setiawangsa, Nilai, Melaka, Kota Bharu, Shah Alam), Mydin, Pavilion KL, KLCC, Mid Valley Megamall, Sunway Pyramid, and more! Over the next five years, they aim to launch 100 outlets nationwide before taking the brand to the international market.

Dato Zulfikri bin Osman, Deputy Director-General (Entrepreneurship) of MARA

The grand opening was officiated by Dato Zulfikri bin Osman, Deputy Director-General  (Entrepreneurship) of MARA, who emphasized how The Makan Shoppe represents local entrepreneurship at its best.

As a MARA-backed business, The Makan Shoppe has already gained recognition, winning Overall Champion in the Food & Beverage (F&B) Category at the MARA Entrepreneur Awards (AURA) 2023/2024, further solidifying its potential in the industry.

Experience It for Yourself!

With its authentic street food flavors, a modern kopitiam ambiance, and a vision for expansion, The Makan Shoppe is set to redefine how Malaysians enjoy their favorite street food.

If you’re a foodie looking for something exciting, make sure to visit their first outlet at 168 Selayang Mall and experience the best of Malaysian street food with a modern touch!
