Empowering Youth: Celebrating Achievement and Partnership at Selangor Youth Event. | I recently had the privilege of attending a remarkable event that left me inspired and full of hope for the future.

On August 6th, at the Sunway Resort Hotel, we gathered to celebrate the outstanding achievements of participants in the Team Programme Malaysia, an initiative by the Selangor Youth Community (SAY) under the patronage of DYTM Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj

This initiative, in collaboration with The King’s Trust International, is designed to empower at-risk youth by providing them with the tools they need to shape their own futures through a 9-week personal and professional development program.

Amirul Mukminin the Winner of The King's Trust Sustainability Award 2024

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Amirul Mukminin, a shining example of what this program aims to achieve. Amirul was selected as the regional winner of The King's Trust Sustainability Award 2024 for Asia in The King’s Trust Global Awards 2024—a prestigious honor that recognizes outstanding young people from around the world who have excelled in The King’s Trust programs.

Amirul's journey, from overcoming shyness and self-doubt to leading a community environmental initiative focused on mangrove planting as a flood prevention strategy, has been nothing short of transformative. His leadership and passion for the environment have not only earned him this incredible award but have also underscored the importance of initiatives like the Team Programme.

The event was graced by
His Royal Highness Raja Muda Selangor, who presented awards to other deserving winners as well.

- Nestle Malaysia was honored with The Most Supportive Corporate Partner Award, a testament to their commitment to youth development.
- Perkeso and the Tropical Rainforest Conservation and Research Centre (TRCRC) were recognized as The Most Supportive Employment Partners, acknowledging their crucial role in providing opportunities for these young individuals to thrive.

Another inspiring story came from Syafiq Affizuddin, a fellow Team Programme alumni, who received the Perseverance Award for his resilient spirit in overcoming life’s challenges.

The evening also marked a significant moment for future collaborations, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Nestle Malaysia and the Selangor Youth Community, witnessed by His Royal Highness. This partnership promises to bring even more opportunities and support to the youth of Malaysia.

Congratulations to all the winners for their remarkable achievements! Your stories are a powerful reminder of what is possible when young people are given the tools, guidance, and opportunities to take charge of their own destinies.
